Little updates

We have sent in our preliminary application with Bethany Christian Services. We should hear back within about 2 weeks as to if we meet all the criteria for the programs. I checked the boxes for Ethiopia, and Hong Kong (special needs), and we will also look at domestic waiting children. Lately I have been noticing special needs children all around me, and in the waiting child listings. Usually that means God wants me to take notice. I was not sure we could handle most special needs issues, but my confidence has grown along with my openness to these special kids. I don't know where God is steering us, but I am eager to get there! B is especially good with kids with special needs, and always has been. God's hand is in it all, and I trust him totally. I know we don't have the funds just yet to start so I am trying to keep myself busy with other things that need to be done. The house is getting clean again post-Christmas Hurricane! LOL

To match the quilt

I have decided that I love that quilt so much I want to make a bedding set to match. So with the left over flannel I had, and some of the scrap minky, I made a lighter weight blanket. I did some raw edge applique hearts scattered around it to give it a little more love. That was the last of the Lollipop Lane flannel I had, but I am going to keep my eyes open for more. I just can't get over how soft and pretty it is!

My first quilt!!

YAY! I finished my very first quilt today. I think it turned out very cute. Nicer than I thought it would turn out for an unguided first shot. The top is minky, and the bottom is this adorable flannel. The binding is actually left over from where I shortened our bedroom curtains! LOL. It's kind of a faux suede. Yes it is a baby quilt for our little one. It is so snuggly and soft, I cannot wait to use it.

Really cool artwork raffle

This is not my work or raffle, but I wanted to share it because it is such a cool piece! On it is the different names for Jesus. How neat is that?! I entered, and hope I win, but if I don't I am happy to support a family going to adopt. :) All the funds will help them with their fees. Take a peek on their blog! The raffle ends on the 22nd, so there isn't much time.

The Ornament

This is an ornament I made when we started discussing adoption. On one side it says "In our hearts" followed by the years. On the other side it says "In our arms" and will hopefully also have a year (maybe '10?) some day soon. I know some people won't understand but it helps me feel connected to the child who will hopefully someday join our family. Merry Christmas little one, where ever your spirit is hovering at this moment in time.
